Full STEAMM Ahead ~ Weekly Programs

PEACE STEAMM Camp summer programs unite Ethos (Science and academics) and Arts  (Theatre, Music, Dance, Language, Visual and Media Arts) to engage, enlighten and enrich each participant’s sense of self worth, leadership and the confidence to experience their inner hero!

Environmental Leadership

At PEACE STEAMM Camp, we nurture the child’s sense of wonder, excitement and appreciation for the power of the natural world and all its life forms. Cultivating environmental leadership begins in observing the beauty and wonder of nature. Our programs instil in children an appreciation for natural beauty, as well as our duty to cultivate and protect our world. As a result, they begin to embrace the core values of sustainable living and responsible decision-making regarding natural resources.

In the outdoor classroom, in addition to physical games and sports activities, students will connect with the call of the wild, through exploratory hiking trails and field trips, to discover the vast array of flora and fauna in the region. They may learn the nutritional and healing properties of flowers and plant life, while discovering our interdependence with all life forms and the vital role humans play in stabilizing the Earth’s eco systems ... an opportunity to discover our responsibility and necessity for sustainable living.

PEACE Camp is committed to supporting the Earth that sustains us, by reducing waste, recycling and renewal. To reduce negative environmental impact, we encourage extensive recycling of all our glass, paper, metal and plastic wastes, compost food scraps, and teach how to recycle reusable waste to create useful objects and fuel. In short, we teach environmental leadership by modelling responsible behaviour.

Music, Media & Magic

PEACE STEAMM Camp is a virtual hive of activity. Our programs infuse imagination with creative exploration; science, cultural and language arts, with visual and performing arts. Children are guided by their imagination to explore their own creativity, while developing skills that enhance their unique gifts and talents, such as singing, dancing, playing instruments and drumming workshops, acting, painting, puppetry and more. In addition to creating their own instruments, we encourage children to bring instruments from home – guitars, recorders, drums, flutes, etc.  Music will flow throughout the day, as they learn to move in rhythm and harmony with one another.

Theatre & Social Culture

Theatre Arts are embedded in the core of Cultural and Social Studies. The STEAMM program will include experiential role-playing, with our young actors stepping into the shoes of historic and current public characters, which may be enacted, with the use of masks and through puppetry. This year’s theme focus is on multi-culturalism and environmental awareness. Our young campers may role play, while learning about the evolution of various cultures from past ancestors to today’s environmental activists. They may discover their creative niche, by assuming a role within the stage production and enhance their ability to express ideas and feelings through contextual aspects of the art form. In addition to acquiring practical and critical artistic, communication skills, students are enabled to clarify and articulate their perspective, as they empathize with the character they are reflecting.

Friday Eco Adventure Field Trips

Every Friday, PEACE Camp participants will be bussed to explore an unique area facility for an eco-adventure field trip, where they will engage our natural wonders and learn about our interdependence with all nature. These nature adventures may include visits to Boards Honey, Horse Ability farm, an area permaculture farm, nature hikes and/or a trip to an interactive Museum.
* There will be additional fees per participant for these adventures, to cover bus and event facility costs.

Horse Ability
The Horse Ability Equine Learning Centre is a cherished asset for our region; environmentally sustainable and community-enhancing, an unparalleled equine learning Centre that is a landmark and a source of pride for all who use it, giving everyone the opportunity to fully achieve and utilize their wholly developed wellness and essential life skills.
